The Roof de Karoo is a stunning three-day 190 km mountain bike traverse. It is the proud product of the Mountain Zebra Camdeboo Protected Environment (MZCPE). This mountain biking adventure journeys over plateaus grazed by herds of antelope, crosses desolate stretches of dramatic Karoo landscape with a unique diversity of fauna and flora and navigates mountain ridges, presenting awesome panoramic views stretching for miles on end.

The MZCPE was created to protect the critical biodiversity of the area that lies between the Mountain Zebra National Park and the Camdeboo National Park in the Greater Karoo. The adventure trail is held in partnership with SANParks and is the only cycle event in South Africa starting and finishing in 2 National Parks.

With stunning views to marvel at while on the bike, an opportunity to camp out under the Karoo skies and experience true Karoo hospitality and cuisine prepared by the local farmers, this event is as special as the area where it takes place.

This event is not only an opportunity to share this area with you and ensure unforgettable memories, but you are riding for conservation! The Mountain Zebra Camdeboo Protected Environment is guided in action by a management plan supported by SANParks and Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and this event is one way for the Protected Environment to become more financially sustainable in order to implement the important programmes of the management plan. Your entry fee does not only cover the awesome experience, but ultimately helps us to protect this wonderful area and the species and people who rely on it.
